March 7 continued the warming, high pressure trend. Overnight low at the Bear Lake Snotel was 25F, rising to 34F by 8am when I started my tour. At 9am, at the top of the DT apron, air temps were 36F, skies CLR, NO precip, CALM winds. By 12 noon when I finished up the day at the Bear Lake TH, temps were 46F, skies FEW, NO precip, LIGHT W/NW winds
Snowpack
Did not dig. HS 0-300+. Ski pen 0-20cm. Wet surface snow starting around 11am on ESE, SE, S aspects. No cracks, no whumphs. Thin radiation crusts from the previous day on all solar aspects. Northerly slopes were holding good sheltered snow, but transforming to heavy, dense snow later in the day. Ample snow coverage where it mattered and no risk of submerged rocks anymore on skiable terrain.
