Weather

Sunny, clear and calm was the weather story today at 8:30AM in the Vail Pass area. The morning started out cold and rapidly warmed as the morning progressed. Light winds came from the NW by the afternoon

Snowpack

Overall a generally weak snowpack in this area as is about anything on a NE aspect. I did multiple ECTs. All three failed around 35cm and were sudden planar. The only difference between the tests was the number of taps. First result resulted in 24 taps followed by a 22 and 21. CT22 at 35cm as well. The 50cm layer near the bottoms is some where between F and 4F hardness so there may be another layer around 35cm that I did not pick up when I was feeling the observation wall. The test objective of this profile was more so gathering information and not specific to any slope that was to be considered for riding.
