Warm Temperatures in Black Prince

Skiing heavy powder in the solar aspects made for some burning legs. Things began to lighten up once we reached shaded areas. Observed minor pinwheeling and one small avalanche from the headwall headed into the gully on climbers left. We made the decision to ski the trees instead. Despite the rapid warming, the snowpack was stable in all areas, and seemed to be settling well. In some areas a small suncrust appeared to be forming. Be safe out there everyone!

Rapid warming from -15 in the parking lot to 6 in the alpine.

Observed small surface hoar in the lower elevations in both the morning and afternoon.
