Sunny, very warm (30+ degrees F), no wind.
Snowpack
4-6 inches new snow overnight sitting on hard crust from warm sunny weather the past week. Not well bonded to crusts on south-facing slopes. New snow was generally heavy everywhere: slushy at lower altitudes (below 11400)/sunny meadows, still fluffy in shaded trees, not yet slushy above treeline. Showed signs of surface hoar. Did not dig any pits.
Avalanche
Unintentionally triggered one small loose avalanche in new snow on top of last week's crust on a small/steep rollover in otherwise sub-30 degree slope angle terrain. Seemed more loose dry than wet, as snow was not slushy. Just NW of Broome Hut, S-SE aspect, near treeline, 11500' elevation. Around 1:15 PM. Snowboarder 1 descended slope first (looker's right track) with no incident. Snowboarder 2 descended just looker's left and initiated slow-moving slide/sluff. Snowboarder 2 had cleared the slope as snow began to move. Also observed avalanche debris when we arrived around 11:30 on Second Creek headwall SW of Broome Hut.
