Snowpack
Found on average 8 inches of early-season snow at 11,000 feet on northerly-facing slopes. The snowpack consists of top to bottom facets. Negligible snow cover below 10,000 feet, even on due north slopes. Only specific areas of slopes (below ridges and cliffs, and in gullies) in the alpine have deep enough snow cover to pose an initial weak layer concern from our next storm. A lot of slopes have discontinuous snow cover or are just too thin. Slopes facing east through south to west are mostly burned out.
