We travelled a northeast-facing gully above treeline. In some places skis penetrated below the new snow and in others were supported by the new/old interface. New snow was low-density and had been loaded into pockets about boot deep at the most overnight. Generally thin snow cover above treeline with a max depth of 120cm found in a northeast-facing wind-drift. Where we dug a snow pit there was 85cm height of snow with 10cm of unreactive new snow. Beneath the new snow was a wind-packed slab and an ECT revealed propagating results at 55cm up from the ground at an interface with a softer, faceting slab. The basal facet layer did not begin until 20cm up from the ground.
