Bluebird day with a few clouds floating around, and temperatures in the mid-30's. Breezy all day, with a WNW wind keeping it feeling a bit cooler than some of our recent sunny days.
Snowpack
A stout melt freeze crust around 35 cm thick, tops wetted rounds and rounding facets, with a basal layer of rounding depth hoar. Water has percolated to the ground, and all layers show signs of transitioning to melt forms. The basal layer was still quite soft here, and reactive to snowpack tests, CT 7 and 11, ECTP 29. This layer has been quiet for a while, and the test results are likely due to water making it to the base of the snowpack. The mid-pack facet layer is still easily found, but rounding, and not sensitive to tap tests. Crusts were breaking down fast by 2 pm, and boot pen increased from 2 cm at 12:30, to 30 cm at 14:00.
