Warm, sunny with very light to no wind, very spring-like.
Snowpack
The southerly facing slopes are beginning to take on a spring-like glaze. Temperatures were warm enough today that surface snow began to feel moist, even on north-facing slopes. With clear skies as the sun fades tonight it is likely that new snow tonight will fall on a widespread crust. Near 12,000 feet on a north-facing slope, the snowpack is about 1.5 meters deep. A very hard wind slab dominates the mid-pack, resting on 1 finger basal facets and depth hoar that is rounding. Extended column tests produced non-propagatingmoderate results ECTN 16, 30 centimeters below the surface but no other results could be forced.
Avalanche
Very minimal recent avalanche activity, only one hard slab avalanche observed just below Cathedral peak on east-facing slopes below the cliff bands. Observed from over five miles away
