Weather
warm temperatures were accentuated by thin clouds, leaving the wind-protected basins feeling stuffy. No visible blowing snow on any ridgline
Snowpack
Above treeline, the snowpack remained firm and supportive, with only the top 10-20 cm becoming wet on southerly aspects. No evidence of water percolating through to the depth hoar was seen. In the lower near treeline elevation band isolated northeries became saturated, other aspects were punchy and unsupportive by late in the afternoon. Below treeline, the snowpack on all aspects had become isothermal and completely unsupportive
Avalanche
A small loose dry sluff, may have been a shallow wind slab but I was not able to see a crown, on a northeast aspect above treeline on Independence Mountain
