Snowing throughout the morning mostly around 1 cm per hour with some lighter periods. Cool breeze from the northwest was light even at the ridge above Bears Gulch. Temperature was fairly warm and warmed throughout the morning to near 30F.
Snowpack
Measured 9.5" / .7" snow and snow water equivalent at the summit before heading up Huntsmans. The snow depth at the summit (8770') was 34" while on the slopes above Bears Gulch (10000') there was 4' snow depth and about a foot of new snow. A week ago extended column tests were propagating with ease on the 1/19 layer of near surface faceted grains down 37cm at this location. I have measured about 55cms of snowfall since that observation on 1/23/2021. Today I could no longer see or feel this layer in the profile sidewall. I did observe moderate to hard propagating test results on the layer of depth hoar buried around 12/11. (ECTP21 down 75 cms)
