Weather
Above freezing temperatures below 10,000 feet all day around Sylvan Lake. Broken sky coverage with calm winds and occasional light gusts. No noticeable snow transport along ridgetops.
Snowpack
Below about 10,000 feet around Sylvan Lake is either bare or thin and discontinuous snow coverage. HS was 10-20cm and Wet throughout from the trailhead at about 8500 ft. until just below 10,000 feet where it was around 30-50cm deep on shaded slopes. Even north facing slopes had a Moist to Wet upper half of the snowpack. South, southwest, and west slopes had a 1F to P hard crust on the surface. I saw no signs of old snow underneath last week's storms until I reached 9,800 feet and found weak facets below a moist slab of snow. I did find buried surface hoar but that may have just been in Sneve Gulch near the creek bed where I was traveling.
