Variable clouds. Moderate SW winds, enough to move a little snow.

Snowpack

Near treeline Hs 18-30”. Mainly chains of depth hoar, facets, cup crystals, cavity hoar and a weak decaying 4-8” 4 Finger slab on top on West to north to east aspects. All pretty similar We had one short steep pitch where we kicked off a small 18” deep facet sluff Any optimism that I may have had for the winter snowpack stability was pretty much crushed today. Trail breaking through the bottomless snowpack was so arduous in places it was actually funny
