Nice day with FEW to NONE clouds and temps in the mid to upper 30's. Moderate gusts with generally light wind from the west.

Snowpack

Snow depth has decreased 7" to 36" at the McClure summit in the past week. Thin layers of near-surface facets exist between more resistant 1F slabs on a NE aspect at 10000'. I observed hard, sudden results in compression tests on a layer of near-surface facets 50 cms / 20" down from the surface and again on the depth hoar interface at 95cms / 3' from the surface. Stubborn initiation; however, step-downs and wide propagation seem possible given the resistance of the slab(s).
