12" of new snow with 0.6" of water content this morning. Clear skies, cold to start the day, but warmed up rapidly as the day progressed. Storm total 12/31/18- 1/2/19; 33"/1.6".
Snowpack
Observed several rumbling collapses knocking the snow off trees 50 yards away on NW-N-NE aspects near treeline. Did not venture into avalanche terrain that had not slid during the storm.
Avalanche
Widespread fresh natural avalanche activity was observed on nearly all aspects near and below treeline. Releasing within the storm snow, perhaps during a period intense snowfall on Tuesday morning. Crown heights averaged about 12" and size did not exceed large (D2).
