Snowpack

We dug on a east aspect at 11,000’ off the Mt. Justice ridge. Height of snow is 260 cm. The snow pack is quite hard with 1F+ to pencil hard throughout, with some layers in the top 100 cm. At 220cm, 185cm, and 180cm there’s a sun crust or melt freeze crust. These didn’t fail in snow pack tests. At 170cm is a facet layer .5-1mm in size which I didn’t notice and couldn’t feel given how thin it was until the snow pack tests were performed, but had failures on this layer. Below this layer is hard. A CT test failed once at 180cm and once at 170 cm both at 18 taps with a sudden collapse. A ECT test took closer to 34 taps but did propagate across the whole block. The ECT test was performed 2 times
