Weather

Increasing clouds led to steady light snow by mid afternoon. Cold temps and moderate NW winds. HS: Slumgullion Snotel 23", new highway stake 30", old highway stake 12".

Snowpack

Several facet layers separated by both sun and wind crusts in the snowpack. Snowpack is barely supportable on skis on with foot penetration to the ground.

Avalanche

Observed very isolated recent activity near treeline out toward the Wetterhorn. Looked to be triggered by cornice failure on E or SE aspects. Hard to tell at such a distance.
