Clouds increased while I was in the field, and a brief snow squall moved through around noon as I was skinning back up to the ridge from the Sisters.
Snowpack
In Sister 1 just adjacent to the upper exploder the snowpack consists of dry to moist snow from the late April/early May storm on top of a melt-freeze crust. This sits on top of pencil hard rounds on over pencil hard rounding facets and rounding depth hoar. See snow pit profile for more information. Snow below the melt-freeze crust is dry, snow temperatures remain below 0C, and there is no evidence of water movement through the snowpack. South aspects were good corn skiing on the return to the truck.
