Weather

Partly cloudy skies and cool tempearures were keeping the new snow cold and wintery near and above treeline. There was no visible blowing snow at ridgeline.

Snowpack

The snowpack was very supportive and was roughly 2-2.5 meters deep near 11,300 feet, with 10-15 centimeters of fresh, low density snow on top. Small test slopes produced no cracking and only minimal sluffing in the new snow. Near and above treeline new snow remained cold, below treeline surface snow had softened to a supportive corn texture by noon. Instability tests in the top meter produced no results.
