Snowpack

Stability is extremely poor. In sheltered areas hs is generally 100cm. Little Italian basin was an unsupported wallow. The alpine is wind affected with some areas scoured and stiff slabs in others. Near tree line there is a widespread 4F slab over the early season facets. Several slides were remotely triggered.

Avalanche

I remotely triggered four slides while skinning on the Green Mountain ridge (12,000’) these were East facing SS-ASr/y-R3-D2-O Crowns were 30-50cm It was difficult to tell what was remotely triggered and what was sympathetic. An older N-R2-D2 was seen in the North East facing M&M chutes (no photo). Avalanches were larger than those observed earlier in the week. Heartbreaking news from CB today.
