Skies were mostly overcast and cleared some towards midafternoon. Temperature was in the upper 20s Fahrenheit with a light breeze from the southwest/west.
Snowpack
A very thin temperature crust was present everywhere I traveled, with surface hoar varying in size from 1mm to 5mm. The two pits I dug on northern aspects were fist-hard facets and depth hoar, on top of a pencil-hard layer of temperature affected depth hoar on the ground. The pit I dug on a slightly wind-loaded east aspect did have a finger-hard, 20cm slab buried about 25cm deep. I did not get propagation results from an extended column test. The propagation saw test I performed in the facets on the lower boundary of the slab did not propagate.
