Snowpack

Snowpack structure sure is variable in the terrain, from past weather events. Got some great shooting cracks on a westerly aspect at 11,500ft sub 32 degree terrain anytime we were in more sheltered areas. Getting out of those sheltered areas, the wind had wrecked the previous snowpack. Moving next to a north easterly aspect, more shooting cracks through a large terrain feature that was supported and less then 35 degrees in steepens. Probing from one side of theses cracks on both aspects revealed very different snowpack structures. Kept it chill on slope angles and enjoyed some good skiing. One old natural PSA avalanche from a cornice fall on an ESE aspect at 11,600ft. D1 in size but weak layer appeared to be on the basal facets. Crown was being filled in by wind-loading from the last couple days.
