Weather

Beautiful bluebird day with an occasional gust at ridgetop that would blow some snow around.

Snowpack

Warm temperatures helped ease the tenderness at the storm snow/old surface interface, especially on aspects with a southerly tilt. North-facing slopes near treeline produced shooting cracks, collapsing and audible whumpfing. The top 10-15 centimeters was moist on sunny slopes by noon with rollerballs rolling by mid-afternoon. The slow warm-up will help ease Wet Loose avalanche concerns in the next few days

Avalanche

A snowmobiler triggered an avalanche near Wolf Creek Pass on a northwest aspect below treeline. The report came to us second hand through social media. The snowmobile and rider were both buried with only a hand sticking out. The snowmobiler was rescued with no injuries and the snowmobile was recovered
