Sunny with calm winds. It was a pleasant day.

Snowpack

Below treeline the snowpack was thin and faceted. Depths ranged from 20-40cm. The moment we popped out of thick tree cover, the terrain changed to a wind-swept patchwork of snow. Harsh winds have left the snowpack here battered and tough. A thin wind slab 5-10cm deep covers the deeper depressions and leeward features. Below this, the snowpack weakens. Basal snow crystals are facets growing 1-2mm in size.
