Snowpack

As much as 30" in windloaded spots, wet at the ground in many places, except the northern aspects that are holding the Oct. snow.

Avalanche

A skier with a dog was skinning up to the south of Red Mtn Lodge and triggered a windslab from a below treeline knob as they skinned across the small avi path about 2/3 of the way down the slope. It was about 40' across, about 24" deep and ran about 100', on the ground facets. Looked like they had crossed the slope before it released by the skin track. Didn't see it go, but saw them leaving their car, then later saw the slide so followed their track to check it out closer. Saw another small wind lip release right at the bottom of Oh Boy, clearly from a collapse from a snowboarder passing by about 20' away. Again, sorry no photos. LOTS of folks out already. It seems the predictions are accurate for a very busy bc season, if yesterday and today are any indications.
