Weather
Bluebird day in the mountains. Light westerly winds at ridgetop were moving snow in isolated areas. Temperatures were around freezing, but not warm enough to affect the snow surface above 11,000 feet where we traveled.
Snowpack
We traveled east-north-west aspects near and below treeline. Supportable snowpack, ski penetration was about 20 cm. Extensive probing across north-facing below treeline slopes found a fairly uniform snowpack 4f-1f hard. Some layering still evident but the facets below our recent snows have been gaining strength and we did not find prominent strong-over-weak structure. No signs of instability observed.
