Hot and sunny with high clouds moving in by 2pm. Moderate Westerly wind with stronger gusts above treeline.
Snowpack
Paradise Divide Zone, Yule Pass., N, NE, South at 10,000-13,400 The wind was a big player in which alpine slopes stayed cool, longer today. The wind was keeping an open south facing slope cool most of the day above 11,800ft. Then by 2pm there was about 10cm of moist surface snow. Straight North facing slopes over 35 degrees and above 12,000 feet stayed cold with surfaces either wind effected or 5cm of weak near surface facets on top of dry powder. At lower elevations in the upper slate river valley, the snow surface was very wet in the afternoon with boot pin at 35cm.
Avalanche
More loose wet avalanching today at all elevations on NE to East to South to West aspects. NE at 13,400ft was actively sloughing by noon. A few avalanches were D2's but most were relatively small, D1-1.5 and not quite able to completely burry you. Though they had lots of power and many would easily snap your legs off. There was a few that were D2 and Noticed several gaping glide cracks at 10,400ft on about a 40 degree Northeast slope.
