clearing, light snow. Northerly aspect, approx 11,500 feet in Alta Lakes basin

Snowpack

10 inches of new snow on top of previous snowpack. Cracking present in new snow, crust that was buried approx 50 nches down is now deeper buried. This crust was stable on 2.27.18 Northerly aspect, approx 11,500 feet in Alta Lakes basin

Avalanche

It looks like all three birthday chutes had some sluffing, and some had 1ft+ crowns from windslab. All were soft slab with natural triggers which occured within the new snow. We did hear several large "Whumps" in the snowpack below us in our flat zone, which was our que to ski the low angle trees. Northerly aspect, approx 11,500 feet in Alta Lakes basin
