Chilling day with temps nearing the single digits. 5 inches of new snow with light winds. Actually felt like December!
Snowpack
BTL, HS ranged from 30-60cm of faceted snow capped with 5 inches of new. Surprisingly no whumpfs were observed. ATL in a cross-loaded gully, a quick pit revealed multiple slabs of varying hardness over a 5cm layer of 2mm FC. Basal structure comprised of a 20cm thick layer of melt forms. ECTP14 on the slab/FC interface.
Avalanche
A small, wind-loaded pocket failed naturally below the ridgeline on a north aspect.
