Weather
Clearing. Windy with sustained 15mph gusts to 30mph from the west.
Snowpack
Windslab from the most recent snow event reacting on east facing pockets. Not highly cohesive but reacts up to a foot deep on a faceted layer.
Avalanche
Triggered a small slide (D 0.5) on east facing terrain, very localized, intentionally triggered above crater lakes. Did not run far as slope began to shallow right where slab fractured. Did not propagate more than a few feet in either direction from the initial trigger point. We noted that the snowpack was quite reactive but the cracks and local slabs we were able to get to run did not propagate laterally very far. We deemed larger slopes highly unsafe to ski due to this layer.
