Weather: Bluebird, temps in the teens to 20's, strong solar, calm winds

Snowpack

SNOWPACK OBS: Storm snow seemed to be bonding well to existing sun crust. Hand shear tests had low quality failures on mid-storm interface. One collapse on flat terrain when all group members were together. No instabilities noted on test slopes. Small roller balls and pinwheels on steep south slopes started around 1:30.

Avalanche

Viewed avalanche in Coon basin R2-D2.5, appears to have been from cornice drop on Friday night. Crown was approximately 3 feet deep and consisted of storm snow and wind slab. D1 Loose snow avalanche observed from cornice drop in Red Lady Bowl at 3:00. Unable to see any slab avalanches from Coon summit, although loose snow avalanches appeared to be widespread.
