Weather

Calm and tranquil below treeline. Lots of snow still in trees. 24F at the car. Sun tried to shine through thin clouds but lost the battle to consistent S1 and brief S2. Gusty near treeline with some moving snow. Closer to the ridge it was whiteout at times and spin drift filled the pit. Back to the car it was 14F and ~2 inches of snow had fallen.

Snowpack

Below Treeline (N-E): HS 70-90 cm. Upper third of the pack was DF and PP. Lower two thirds was old faceted snow. Punchy at times with boot pen to your inseam. Near Treeline (N-E): HS 90-120 cm. Some mid-pack slabs topped with DF and PP. Below the slab was faceted snow to the ground. Surface snow was just showing signs of slabbing with some very shallow cracking at ski tips. No results of note in pit profile. See image.
