Snowpack
Calm winds, sunny & warm temps. Toured up Mt. Emmons and skied the glades. Dug snowpit near top of the glades, roughly at treeline (~300ft below goal posts) SE aspect. HS=105cm, knife hard layer @40cm with facets & depth hoar below. Top layer was fairly well condensed 4F hardness. Ski pen = 10cm, boot pen = 40cm. With a little extra pressure boot pen penetrated hard layer @40cm and was hip deep. Our party observed one collapse at the bottom of a slope BTL when one skier sat down into the snow fairly hard.
