Good fun at Tunnel Creek today. Up Sunnyside and down Home Run. The Home Run alders are mostly filled in and more or less skiable. Snowed lightly on and off all day. Gusty and variable wind as we neared ridge top. Mid slope on solar aspects had two layers sitting on top of sun crust; first 10cm was very light and unconsolidated and sluffed a lot, second 10cm was stiffer and failed easy in a quick hand pit. As we neared ridge top on solar aspects, the snow over the sun crust became 3-5cm of very light and unconsolidated snow. No shooting cracks or whumpfing observed today while setting uptrack.
