Climbed the South Eeast face of Feather Peak and skied the North Glacier. 3-5cm new snow overlies near surface facets, hard wind slab/wind pressed surfaces, and isolated strastugi and made for good skiing in sheltered north facing terrain. Winds were light from the N at ridgeline but we observed very little snow transport. South facing terrain is now going through a diurnal melt-freeze cycle with a 5-10 cm thick supportive crust (upto ridge line on direct solar aspects) breaking down through the day. Some isolated whumphing in unsupported alpine features. We observed one recent (last 72hrs) size 1 persistant slab avalanche (40cm deep, 10m wide, ran 10 m) on a steep, rocky E facing convexity at 1300m and several new loose wet avalanches to size 1 out of steep rocky south facing terrain.
