Bonney North/Ross Southeast

Path skiers left of Bonney Trees felt very upside down (ok skiing) with roughly 30cm on the Dec 1st crust. Looked and skied like it had slid during the last storm. SE facing path on Ross had slid on Dec 1st with 60-70cm of HST over the debris. Two notable weaknesses were observed in the snowpack. Easy results 30cm down below the new storm snow (F to 4F) on facets. Mostly just a soft slab for now with limited cohesion/propagation but could become more concerning with more load/slab properties. The second layer of concern was 60cm down in the facets above the Dec 1st crust. While we only got it to go on a couple steep unsupported isolated features (pillows), probing with our poles while skinning produced sudden 5-10cm drops (punchy) on that layer throughout the area. We heard a few loud rumbles on the north face of Bonney but couldn't tell for sure if they were serac falls or cornice falls. Finally, while no wind was felt on the features we skied, it was gusting strong from the north on the approach/ski out along the creek. Seems like there might be some reverse loading happening up high with the northeast outflow wind.

Easy results 30cm on facets under new storm snow. Hard results down 60cm on facets over Dec 1st crust.
