Cloudy skies, light snow, and strong SW winds. Wind loading was intense in exposed terrain. 5" snowfall with 0.5" of water content measured at 1000 this morning. Little additional snow during the day. Winds increased in the afternoon, averaging 40+ mph and gusting to 60+ mph.
Snowpack
Traveled on NW-N-E aspects near and below treeline. Observed fresh slab development in windloaded NE-E aspects near treeline. No signs of instability on northerly aspects below treeline.
Avalanche
No recent natural avalanche activity observed along the highway corridor with decent visibility.
