Weather
Broken to overcast skies and S-1 while I was in the field. Light northwest winds with occasional stronger gusts were driving light wind transport near treeline. One to two inches of snow in the area over the last 24hrs.
Snowpack
I dug in Sister 6 just above exploder 6HI, and found today's new snow sits on a thin, 1F slab on top of a layer of faceted grains. This all sits on top of a stout older snowpack. Easy ECTN results below the thin slab--didn't dig to much deeper than the top 50cm, as the Sisters have been pretty beat up by this point in the season. Southeast aspects that I traveled on near and below treeline had a melt-freeze crust just under today's new snow from the recent sun and warm temperatures. East-northeast aspects below treeline were shallow, faceted, and lacking much of a slab.
