Dug a north facing snow pit at 1370m just above Beta Lake. There was 10cm of fresh snow on a sheet of ice. This made it impossible to reach high alpine as the skins couldn't hold on. It had been raining for some days prior, the rain went through the first layers down to 75-100cm, at which point the snow was very saturated with water and had a blue colour
