With a short day to work with, we headed back up to Bryant Lake to see how the new storm snow is bonding to previous storm layers and the deeper December crust. It definitely doesn’t feel like early season anymore. About 35 cm fell in the last 24 hours following a cold weekend, and there’s a soft interface with feathery surface hoar between the newest snow and last weekend’s snow, producing moderate test results. This will be an important layer to watch over the coming week as the snow settles. It’s deep out there and the skinning is tough, but confidence is high that winter has returned to the White Pass in full force.
