Snowpack

A skier triggered the slide below a small cornice on a cross loaded ridge, facing NW at elevation 10,600' and estimated slope angle of 37 degrees. The initial fracture was approximately 12-16" deep and 100-150' wide. The triggering skier was able to ski out of the slide, exiting on the left. The slide continued 1200' to the valley floor, dropping down into deeper layers as it passed over two roll-overs. The final debris pile was 200+ feet wide and approximately 10 feet deep.
