San Juan Mt Guides Level 1 course-staying at 11, 800 from 12/22-12/24- on the eve of 23rd- winds picked up at the Captain Yurt- we weathered three successive waves of 70+ gusts overnight with sustained winds above 50 at the Putney station.
Snowpack
We dug at 12253 East 27degreeslope clear/21 F/ west3-5 /g>15 153 HS "Classic strong over weak" failed on CT 26 99cm down on F and MF grains around former surface crust- burping the baby produced some nice micro layers within the greater slab. 43 cm Pencil Hard Wind Slab - Because we were sleeping up high, we noted 3 distinct wind pulses hammering us Saturday night. We were able to identify and isolate those "three pulses" within the slab during our obs. The wind slab atop prospect ridge is sitting on junk. Below, the remainder of the snowpack was F/MF layers of P/P+ hardness. Cornice development atop the ridge is early season
