Snowpack
This weekend's storm left up to 12" of new snow in alpine areas near the Divide. NW winds drifted the new snow into fresh wind slabs ~2' thick. The old snow refroze before the storm, and the new snow is generally well bonded to it. There is a reactive interface about 4" above the old snow surface, where the stiffer (4F) snow overlies softer (F) snow. Small avalanches that we triggered were all confined to the new snow.
