Weather
Just received a rapid load of snow on our old surfaces. Most ares have gotten several hours of 2"/hr rates this evening and likely periods exceeding 3"/hr rates. Currently (9pm) snowfall rates have decreased).
Avalanche
Traveling over Coal Bank and Molas - Noted that ALL the steep banks between Coal Creek and Silverton have very shallow 2" to 3" crowns that are widely propagating. (All N-NE-E aspects; no obs for W aspects). This does not bode well for lower angle terrain where the volume can build... Initially suspect a layer within the new snow (like graupel during a convective event).
