Avalanche

Investigated the avalanche on the NE face of Peeler Peak, which likely occurred around Valentine's day. The crown was ~3,000 feet wide (full width of the bowl), averaged around 5 or 6 feet deep, up to 9 feet. Failed at the ground on faceted snow. The slide ran full track on the ground the whole way, roughly a mile and 2,400 vertical ft. More than half of the debris stopped on the bench halfway down the path, but the remaining debris crossed Oh-Be-Joyful creek and ran a little ways up Schuykill Ridge. Surprisingly, most of the mini trees in the path stayed put (they must be really flexible), but the debris looked significant enough to destroy a few buildings. HS-N-R5-D4-O/G
