Clear skies. Moderate W winds, with gusts to 30’s and 40’s. Light snow transport observed. Hi 36 at Lower plot, 26 Scarp Ridge.

Snowpack

Profile on S aspect near treeline showed the upper snowpack is all moist/wet down to the Dec 31st crust, buried about 2 feet deep. The facets above are moist and rounding. Ice lenses up to 2 cm thick have formed from pooling freewater above the crust, and there are percolation columns through the slab as well. Below the Dec 31st crust, facets and mixed forms are moist to dry, with decomposing crusts becoming less recognizeable. Stability tests showed no results near the Dec 31st crust, but CTM SC on the facets near the ground. Surface is 2-3" thick crust with preserved surface hoar crystals on top.
