Snowpack
near and below treeline- 150+cm total average depth, ski pen 40-50cm, boot pen to top of thighs, storm slabs have developed on NE thru ESE aspects, suspected buried facets in the shadier/rockier areas?(didnt get close enough to look, sorry), most due NE convexities steeper than 40 degree slope failed 2' deep sympathetic to ski pressure in the vicinity. No slab failures on N or E aspects(although deep persistant slabs over depth hoar is still apparant everywhere). Terrain descisions today were the key to survival and to enjoying over the head pow.
