Avalanche

Widespread cycle on AM of Jan 14th around Silverton. Dozens (well hundreds if you had the patience to count the D1's) of storm slabs. In the alpine some of these slabs propagated much wider than you'd expect given the relatively shallow crown depths. Also a few surprising persistent, or possibly deep persistent slabs running D2.5-3 on facets formed in November (Dec 6 interface). Bottom line: widespread storm slab cycle this morning and a couple very large avalanches ran on deeply buried weak layers to keep everyone on their toes!
