Cold and sunny sums up today with light ridge top winds from the west.

Snowpack

I traveled below treeline for the entire day while getting to about 10,000ft. I observed surface hoar on all slopes that I traveled on with several areas with 3-4mm feathers in places. I did not notice any signs of unstable snow. Slopes facing more southerly have a thin sun crust that formed from the last day or two but is not very stiff. I dug a snowpit with a height of 140cm on an east-facing slope and found an overall strong snowpack. The mid-snowpack shows a stiff cohesive slab of rounds. The snowpit did have some persistent weak layers, but they were still stiff (4 Finger to 1 Finger at the bottom). Propagation tests produced no results even going over the 30 taps.
