Weather

one of the least balmy days in routt county yet this year ... temps warmed from -15° F to -10° F in the morning to near 0° F by 1 pm. generally clear throughout day with some thin scattered clouds rolling in thru the afternoon. SW winds light in the morning with gusts 5-10 mph / gusts increased throughout afternoon to 10-15 mph.

Snowpack

the wind has done a number on the snowpack - things seem mostly scoured or buffed to a extra-firm consistency. numerous hasty pits revealed difficult-to-budge snow. dug a pit on lightly-sheltered 38° NE aspect @ 10650' BTL. HS averaged 255 cm. one CTH (26 / Q3) @ 15 cm down. one ECTX.
