High, thin clouds kept the skies mostly covered and grey. Temperatures struggled to reach double digits by mid-afternoon. No blowing snow was visible on ridgetops.
Snowpack
The snowpack remains relatively thin, faceted and weak with total snow depths about 100-120 cm at 11,400 feet. 10 cm of recent low-density snow sits on a thin suface hoar layer. The Christmas storm is resting on buried surface facets with an obvious but unreactive interface (no slab). The November 19-21 storm snow is still visible at this location and has matured into well developed 2mm depth hoar. The early December surface hoar and buried surface facet layer's seem to have been chewed up by the faceting process and have all but disappeared to the naked eye.
